Our Responsibility: Transparency and Measurability

Be nice! We focus on concrete action rather than empty promises.

PURE SKIN FOOD is part of the niceshops Group, where the motto “Be nice” guides everything we do. We believe that environmental and social responsibility can go hand in hand with commercial success. Instead of relying on vague marketing buzzwords, we focus on transparency and measurable results.

Since 2018, we have calculated our corporate carbon footprint every year, giving us a clear picture of where we stand and where the greatest opportunities to reduce emissions lie. Our overarching goal is to continuously reduce our greenhouse gas intensity, measured in CO₂ equivalents per million euros of turnover. Between 2024 and 2025 alone, we reduced this intensity by 14.7 per cent.

Our commitment to taking responsibility has also received external recognition. niceshops was presented with the Special Award for Integrated Sustainability by the renowned ‘Great Place To Work’ institute.

An overview of our specific measures as at 2025/2026:

Energy & Infrastructure

  • We meet 100 per cent of the electricity needs at our main site in Saaz with certified green electricity.
  • Our rooftop photovoltaic system at the logistics centre generates more than a third of the electricity required at our Saaz site.
  • Our logistics centre was built using timber construction. The timber used stores carbon over the long term, while waste heat from a neighbouring farmer’s biogas plant is used to heat and cool the building.

Shipping & Packaging:

  • More than 98 per cent of the shipping materials used for our parcels are plastic-free. Only in a small number of cases, such as bulky goods and pallet shipments, do we currently lack a viable alternative to recyclable plastic film.
  • Our innovative parcels can be reused for both dispatch and returns without adhesive tape. This patented solution has received the Austrian State Prize for the Packaging Industry and the ‘WorldStar Global Packaging Award’.
  • Thanks to detailed product descriptions and high-quality standards, our returns rate is only around 3 per cent. Wherever possible, returned products are inspected, repaired and reused to conserve resources.

Mobility & Workplace

  • Around 30 charging points for electric cars and e-bikes are available to our staff at the Saaz site. niceshops also has a growing fleet of electric cars.
  • Our in-house ‘Mobi Taskforce’ encourages staff to commute without combustion engines. Initiatives include an incentive scheme called ‘Mobi Points’, company bicycles and public transport passes.
  • Our staff enjoy free communal meals made with regional produce and prepared in our in-house kitchen, including vegetarian days.
  • Our spacious company garden in Saaz, known as ‘nicegarden’, is designed according to ‘Natur im Garten’ criteria and provides habitats for plants, animals and people right on our doorstep.

Regional Engagement

  • We support farmers in South-East Styria who use sustainable farming practices to build up humus in their arable soils, helping to sequester CO₂ in the soil.
